This series was shot in the part of Michigan that borders Lake Superior….the “UP”. This image was shot on our way to scouting a couple of different lakes. This is a composite of two shots; the light was hard to find.

This image was shot at the Devil’s Garden which is about 15-20 miles south of Escalante, Utah. It is filled with whimsical sandstone formations that are like a Rorschach test for photographers. What made this shot so special for me was how the light reflected off the rock and lit up adjacent areas.

This is the 4th time that I have tried to capture the beauty of a slot canyon. I think that I am finally getting it! This image consists of 11 exposures that were combined with a software called Photomatix,

This image of Lake Michigan was sot a few miles from my house. It is very hard to get good images in the winter due to the ice accumulation on the shore.

There are only 20 people allowed at this location per day. As you can see, some of the popular vantage points fill up quickly.

I loved the color of this one and how the droplets of moisture stuck to the blossom. I shot this at a mid aperture and had to wait for the fans to stop running to get rid of movement in the plant.

Shot the same frosty morning as the leaf image. It was very hard to isolate the background so that the bud remained the main object. I was also surprised how few buds were in somewhat pristine condition.

So I had this client who wanted a big bold floral image for her dining room. The problem was that she couldn’t decide it needed to go with the wall or the rug. These are some of the iterations that were printed.

It is amazing how much time I spend looking for flowers that are in shadow. The next step is to see if the sun will help, pull back a branch or when all else fails, see if my reflector will work.

I am glad I had a tripod for this image. It was about 18 degrees and I had been waiting for about 45 minutes…..I was shaking. This is a beach on Lake Michigan, about 12 minutes from home.
